Is, Was and Will Be – The Unknown Character of Christ and His Word

Are You a Futurist or a Preterist?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi J____,

Thank you for your question, “Are you a futurist or a preterist?”  The answer is that I am neither “a futurist nor a preterist”. I have said many times, anyone who is a dispensationalist (futurist) knows only 1/3 of the True Christ of scripture.

Anyone who is a preterist (the prophecies were fulfilled in the past) knows only 1/3 of the Christ of the scriptures. Anyone who is a ‘presentist’ (is that even a word?) knows only 1/3 of the True Christ.

This is the True Christ:

Mat 24:32  Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mat 24:34  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mat 24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 24 was fulfilled in “[that] generation”, and the next generation and so forth down to “this generation [which shall also] not pass till all these things be fulfilled”, because this is who Jesus is, and this is what I am:

Rev 1:4  JOHN to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

What I am is what the website says I am. In Christ we all are aware that His “words do not pass away” but are applicable in every generation.

That is why Christ said:

Mat 24:15  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Understand what? Understand that “My words do not pass away” and the man of sin who stands in the holy place is my own old man who places himself above and over Christ in His temple which we are in Christ (1Co 3:15-16).

1Co 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Christ goes on to say, as I cut and pasted above, “This generation will not pass away until all these things [including the abomination of desolation] be fulfilled.” He said “Let him that reads understand” because He knew His words would be being read down through every generation because He is as He tells us twelve times in various ways in the book of Revelation:

Rev 1:4  JOHN to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

That is the Christ I know, and that is who and what I am. Read the article How To Rightly Divide The Word to understand how to handle the scriptures as the apostles handled them and as I handle them.

I hope this answers your question. Your brother in the Christ who is, was, and will be, hence the name of my website.

Mike
