What did people use prior to the publishing of the KJV Bible in 1611? I know many people couldn’t read the Original Manuscripts written in Hebrew and Greek, plus they would have had no access to them, period.
My view is that many people in times past if they heard any plan of salvation at all would have heard it from the mouth of a Catholic Priest.

If, as you suppose, anyone heard of the plan of salvation from “a Catholic priest”, then it would have been a renegade priest, because salvation is a free gift, and the Popes were for the most part a greedy bunch, who considered their profession to be a profitable profession monetarily.
