Hi M____,
I am pleased that you are being bless by our articles. Thank you for your question.
You say:
I wish to know the difference between the spirit of Christ, the spirit of God and the human spirit.
The very first thing you need to realize is that God is the Father of all spirits, good and evil.
Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [ us], and we gave [ them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
God is the creator of all, and that includes the most subtle beast of the field, “the crooked serpent.”
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
The word formed here is actually ‘pierced,’ but the point is made that the serpent is pierced in our heavens by God. God, and God alone, is the creator of all things good and evil. It was God who created the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It is God and God alone who creates evil. All things and all spirits are mere instruments in His sovereign hand, for His sovereign purposes and pleasure.
Pro 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
It is God who creates the wicked man within us for the day of evil within us. We are the work of His hands in whatever form we come. With that Truth firmly in our mind we can now safely say that God sends out His spirit to sustain both the spirit in men and the spirits in both good and evil angels, as well as in all of His physical creatures:
Psa 104:29 Thou hidest thy face, they [ all creatures] are troubled: thou takest away their breath [ Hebrew, ruach, spirit], they die, and return to their dust.
Psa 104:30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit [ same Hebrew word as in verse 29, ruach, spirit], they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
You ask what is the difference between the spirit of Christ and the spirit of God? The answer is that there is no more difference between the spirit in Christ and His Father than there is between the spirit of Christ and the spirit of those in whom He dwells. It is all actually Christ’s Father’s spirit, and Christ gives that spirit to whom He wills. But since Christ’s will is in complete accord with His Father’s will, and since Christ has the spirit of His Father, their wills always agree.
Joh 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
This is a direct reference to the spirit of Truth which is the holy spirit.
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [ that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
So Christ’s spirit is really “the Father’s” spirit, which the Father has given to Christ to give to us. The spirit that is in us before that is also sustained by and comes from the Father. Look at these verses:
1Sa 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1Sa 16:15 And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
“Saul’s servant’s said… an evil spirit from God troubles you.” This used to be common knowledge. It certainly is not common knowledge in any of the great religions that control this world today. But Truth is Truth whether it is believed by only one or even by none. Truth does not hinge upon how many people believe it to be Truth. All of God’s Word demonstrates that Truth has always been hated by the masses of mankind.
Act 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
Act 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
This is us each at our appointed time. God gives us all a spirit that first “resists the holy spirit, then He gives us a spirit which repents and receives the holy spirit. But he is “the Father of [ all] spirits.”
We were created to come to the point of seeing our need for the baptism that is “the washing of water by the word… which is truth which “is spirit and which is life.”
Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
The ‘water’ which baptizes us is “by the Word.” I will close with one more verse which should show you that whether it is “the four spirits of the heavens” (Zec 6:5), the “seven spirits before the throne of God” (Rev. 5:6), or “an evil spirit from the Lord” (1Sa 16:14), they are one and all “from the Lord,” who is “the Father of spirits.”
1Co 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
1Co 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Zec 6:5 And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
I hope this all helps you to better see that God works and manipulates all things, good and evil, through the agency of the various spirits which He sends forth to do His work. I hope this all serves to demonstrate to you the total sovereignty of God over all things good and evil:
Pro 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
