Is, Was and Will Be – The Unknown Character of Christ and His Word

He Shall Not Die

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi C____,

Surely you won’t mind if I ask to see the scriptures which teach that there are seven plagues which are not the wrath of God, and another seven plagues which are? That is pure cloth; a complete fabrication and a false doctrine of “smooth things.”

Isa 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

It may not be the rapture theory, but it is the same spirit that teaches the rapture doctrine. Here is the only place in scripture where the phrase “seven plagues” is to be found. Now you show me where you see two separate ‘seven plagues’ in these 3 verses of scripture.
“Clearly” what these seven plagues do is to “fill up the wrath of God.”

Rev 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Rev 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Where is it written that you endure the seven plagues but not the wrath of God? I will be the first to agree that since “we live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” that there is an “each in his own order” factor involved, but to say that one set of seven is God’s wrath and the other is not is utter heresy. That is what is called “grasping for straws,” and the Word of God doesn’t need to grasp for straws. It is “alive and powerful…”
You say:

… which is the equivalent of quoting these verses and dozens of others just like them:

Mat 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
Joh 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

… and concluding from those verses that the scriptures teach that Christians “shall never die” a physical death. Well, the scriptures do teach that those who believe on Christ “shall never die,” but it’s not speaking of the flesh. It is speaking of never being hurt of the second death.

Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

The reason Christians will not be hurt by the second death, is because they died daily while yet in these vessels of clay.

Joh 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much frui t.
1Co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

I too, could deceitfully list literally dozens of scriptures which state that those who believe in Christ will “never die,” and I could say, “clearly we never die if we believe in Christ.” But is Christ speaking of the flesh? Of course not! So also with this subject of God’s wrath. We are not appointed to God’s wrath in the lake of fire, but as long as we are in this flesh, this is what the scriptures really teach concerning the wrath of God:

Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Is that verse simply not true? Are there any of us who at some time in the past have “not believed?” Obviously not! So is that verse a lie, and the wrath of God is “clearly” not for God’s elect?

Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 11:30 For as ye[ that includes you and me] in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Since there was a time when we all “did not believe,” were we then under God’s wrath, or has that never been the case? Is Joh 3:36 a lie or have not “we all” been “by nature children of wrath, even as others?” What is the answer to that question?

Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all [ you and I] had our conversation [ Greek, way of life] in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Col 3:6 For which things’ sake t he wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Col 3:7 In the which ye [ and and me] also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

What?! Are we to believe that we walked in them but were not the children of wrath even as others? After all:

How could any logical person doubt such an authoritative statement as that, with all of those scriptures, which one and all are made to appear to be in contradiction to the sum of God’s Word?

Psa 119:160 The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever.(ASV)

Would you take the time to explain these following verses, if indeed the verses you noted above concerning God’s wrath are “clearly true” and are supposed to be understood as you have presented them?
It could just as easily be said ‘It is clearly true from Mat 19:29, Joh 3:16, 6:50, 11:26, and dozens of other very “clearly true” scriptures, that anyone who believes in Christ “will never die,” “may eat thereof and not die” “shall not perish but have everlasting life,” and “shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” These are but a few of the many scriptures which promise that all who believe in Christ will not die. But to present them in a way that makes them to contradict the sum of God’s word would be to deny all the scriptures which say we must first die in order to “never die… not die… not perish… but have everlasting life.”

Joh 21:23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what [ is that] to thee?
Heb 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment;

I for one, cannot handle God’s Word in such a deceitful manner, not after being shown what is the truth. The same thing is true of God’s wrath. If we actually do believe that “not appointed to wrath but to salvation…”

1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

… is a statement which is true only for God’s elect and not for “all men, each at his appointed time,” then we are denying that salvation is for “all men,” and we are denying that every “man lives by every word of God.” We are denying that there is “one event to all men, both the righteous and the wicked,” that “ all things present and things to come are ours,” and we are denying that “God pours his wrath out on all ungodliness and unrighteousness” because we deny that He pours out His wrath on the ungodliness and unrighteousness of His elect. We are also denying that we “ abide in wrath so long as we abide in unbelief.” Those who want to “take their part out of” all of these verses have a very somber warning given to them by He who is all of these words:

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Here is something that is “written in this book:”

Rev 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [ and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [ are] thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [ are] thy ways, thou King of saints.
Rev 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for [ thou] only [ art] holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
Rev 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Rev 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Rev 15:7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

“The revelation of Jesus Christ” is not exclusive of chapter 15. Leave that out of what you are to ‘keep that is written therein’ at your own risk.
Now here are just a very few of the verses which tell us that if we want to avoid death, and if we want to avoid God’s wrath, then we must endure both while in these vessels of clay:

Ecc 9:2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as [ is] the good, so [ is] the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [ As opposed to remaining under wrath]
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Have we never held truth in unrighteousness? Have we never been children of disobedience? Has God’s wrath never abided upon us? “Let God be true and every man a liar.” Again I repeat two verses quoted above:

Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all [ you and I] had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Col 3:6 For which things’ sake t he wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience [ as you and I were]:
Col 3:7 In the which ye [ and you and I] also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye [ and you and I] walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Are we being told that we walked in the spirit of the children of disobedience but weren’t really children of disobedience? No, anyone drawing that conclusion has no concept of “keeping the thing written therein” or keeping the prophecies of this book, or living by “every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Don’t buy into that lie. God’s elect are not aloof from “the things written therein.”

1Co 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Whoever does not believe those words of Christ has the wrath of God abiding on him!

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Is not the previous verse in Joh 3:36, inspired of God? Does man in reality not live by every word? Is there one event for God’s elect who never “abided” in His wrath and another event for those who endure His wrath in the lake of fire? Is that really what scripture teaches? Here is what Christ taught and even now teaches:

Ecc 9:2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.

Should we insert ‘except for God’s elect’ into that verse in a couple of places? I cannot go there.
What should we do with this verse?

1Co 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
1Co 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;

Should we insert the words ‘except for God’s wrath’ at the end of verse 21? Should we insert the words ‘except for the plagues of God’s wrath’ after “things to come?” I am far too much aware of that warning in Rev 22:18-19 to do any such thing. I am also aware of this verse:

Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [ it] unto them.
Rom 1:20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Have we never believed in the trinity and all the other doctrines of Babylon? Is God’s wrath not revealed against our ungodliness and unrighteousness? You reference this verse in the next chapter of Romans and you say it ‘clearly demonstrates that Christ’s New Testament church does not go through the wrath of God.’

Rom 2:5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

What will we do with the following verses?

Rom 2:6  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Rom 2:7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Rom 2:8  But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Rom 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Rom 2:10  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Rom 2:11  For there is no respect of persons with God.

Have you and I never done evil? Has the wrath of God never been on us? No, “there is no respect of persons with God.” Do not be deceived:

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Should we take out the words “indignation, wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil,” and insert the words ‘except for God’s elect’ in there somewhere? Is that what we should do to make all these verses agree with the false doctrine that we are not appointed to wrath ever under any circumstance or at any time?
If we can do that with the subject of wrath, we can also do it with the subject of death, and we can do it with any other words of God which do not fit our doctrines. But to do so we will always have to ignore the sum of God’s word, and say that there are many things that have proceeded out of the mouth of God that some men simply don’t have to live by.
You make this comparison:

OLD COVENANT

PRODUCES wrath — Rom 4:15

NEW COVENANT

SAVED from wrath — Rom 5:9

Now let’s look at these scriptures. We will look at them in the order you present them here:

Rom 4:14 For if they which are of the law [ be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Rom 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

No one in his right mind would deny that the law works wrath, but now, let’s ask a simple question and see just how much spiritual understanding it takes to make such a comparison as those verses you have above, and then deduce from that comparison that God’s elect have never and will never experience His wrath.
That question is, are God’s elect ever under the Law? Has God’s wrath never rested upon any who are His elect? What the scriptures say? Here is what the scriptures teach, and more details can be read in the paper entitled The Law of God Versus The Law of The Spirit, which you can now read on iswasandwillbe. com.
Here is what the scriptures teach about all of us before we come to know Christ:

Gal 3:19  Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Gal 3:20  Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Gal 3:21  Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Gal 3:22  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin [ you and me], that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Gal 3:23  But before faith came, we [ you and I] were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Gal 3:24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25  But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

‘”Before faith came we were [ all] under the law, shut up unto the faith which would afterward be revealed, and after faith comes we are no longer under our schoolmaster, the law.” The very next verse continues this concept, which teaches that we are all under the law until the time appointed of the Father,” and we are all “carnal babes in Christ” (1Co 3:1-4), “until the time appointed of the Father.”

Gal 4:1 Now I say, [ That] the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
Gal 4:2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

The word ‘servant” should be ‘slave’ because we are all slaves to sin “before faith comes.”

Gal 4:3  Even so we [ you, me and all men], when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
Gal 4:7  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Gal 4:8  Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
Gal 4:9  But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

Are we under God’s wrath at this time of our walk in sin? What do the scriptures teach? Here again is what the scriptures teach:

Joh 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

As I said above, any who deny that we first die in order to avoid death, do not believe on the words of the son of God, and the same thing is true of any who do not believe that “the wrath of God abides on unbelievers.”
Before we come to Christ, or before we are dragged to Christ, we are all under the law, and therefore under wrath:

Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

So according to Joh 3:36, being “saved from wrath” is just like being saved from death. What is being said in both cases is that we are being saved from ‘out of wrath,’ and we are being saved ‘out from among the dead.’
As if you and I have both been under the law, “under the elements of this world” and as such were unbelieving sinners, with God’s wrath abiding on us, then this happens:

Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, [ under wrath] Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 5:10  For if, when we were enemies [ under God’s wrath], we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Try the spirits.

1Jn 4:1  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3  And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1Jn 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

The whole world is deceived by some variation of a rapture theory, and in spite of seeing the fallacy of that theory, there are those who still conclude that vast portions of “the things written therein… the prophecies of this book” are not for God’s elect. It is a very appealing doctrine, but it is “of the world, and the world hears them.”

Isa 30:9  That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
Isa 30:10  Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Deceits are always smooth things that appeal to our flesh.
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
