Job’s Children?

Hi Mike,
Thank you, Mike, for this blessing study of the book of Job. If you have time, I was interested in a deeper understanding of this part as prompted by a question by a brother in Christ:
Job 42:13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
Job 42:14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
Job 42:15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
Job 42:16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations. His new daughters have names, they are recognized through the land for their beauty, and they inherited with their brothers.
Here is what I see in this section:
We know that ‘the latter end’ of Job was more blessed than his ‘beginning’:
Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Job 42:12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. The latter end points to the ‘spiritual’ and the ‘beginning’ points to the ‘natural’ (the “water” in Joh 3:5):
1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. The meaning of the three daughters’ names should thus be seen within this (spiritual) ‘latter end’ context:
Job 42:14 (KJV) And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
Job 42:14 (ABP+) And he called the first, Day, and the second, Keziah, and the third, Amalthaia’s Horn.‘Jemima’ = her name means “day” = (new) day = resurrection day:
1Co 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
‘Kezia’ = her name means ‘stripped bark of the cassia’ (a plant known for its sweet fragrance) = used in the anointing oil in the tabernacle of Moses = old life is stripped releasing new fragrance = new spirit of gladness:
Psa 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psa 45:8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.
Exo 30:23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
Exo 30:24 And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin:
Exo 30:25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
Exo 37:29 And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.‘Kerenhappuch’ = meaning “horn” = spiritual anointing = spiritual authority = spiritual rulership:
Luk 1:69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
The mentioning of their names helps us to know that Job’s end (as a type of the elect) is better than the days in the flesh (Ecc 7:1). These three daughters (had to come through a process of judgment) point to the new Jerusalem ruling with all the seven (complete church) ‘sons of God’:
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
I will appreciate correction if I am off base here, Mike.
Thanks,
Larry
Hi Larry,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this brother. You are right on target. Job, his wife, and his sons and daughters, after his trials, are figures of us in our resurrected bodies, which at this time we possess only in down payment, “earnest” (Eph 1:13-14) form. With your permission I would like to post this exchange on iswasandwillbe. com with your name and e- mail address attached. The only change I would like to make is to this paragraph.

I would just add links to our studies on the numbers three and seven, and make it read like this:
These daughters are three because they are the fruit of Job coming through a process of judgment. They point to the new Jerusalem ruling with all seven of their brothers, who as ‘sons of God’ are the spiritual figure of the complete church (read the studies on the number three here:

… and the number seven here:

There is really no change or correction at all. It is just a clarification of what you have stated. You certainly are ‘hitting the nail on the head’.
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
