Is, Was and Will Be – The Unknown Character of Christ and His Word

Physical Temple in Jerusalem?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi L____,

Thank you for your questions. You ask:

While there is always an outward, physical type and shadow of every spiritual principle, lesson, and message, the primary focus of scripture is never the outward fulfillment but the inward. If Israel had known that one Truth, they would have recognized that Christ, their own Savior, first had to come and die for their inward sins and enemies, before he could come to rule this world outwardly during the millennium.
Here is one little example of how this principle works within the scriptures:

Joh 2:19  Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

That statement was received then as the rebuilding of the temple is received to this very day:

Mat 26:61  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
Mar 14:58  We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

So will a physical temple be built in Jerusalem? We do not know as of 4/24/11. If ever a physical temple built it will only serve the same purpose that the reestablishing of the physical nation of Israel is serving. The establishing of the physical nation of Israel has served only to take the minds of the masses of Christians off of the true temple of God and off of the true beast, the blasphemous “man of sin” who is sitting in the True temple of God, which is the hearts and minds of His people.

1Co 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
2Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

You and I are the true temple of God. You and I have been the “man of sin” who has occupied that temple for so long, serving our own lusts and worshiping ourselves in the process. That is what Paul told the Corinthians, and that is what he had also told these Thessalonians. So he says:

2Th 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

So while we do not know how far our Lord will go in keeping the eyes of mankind on the outward fulfillment of prophecy, what we do know is that if a physical temple is built this will be the truth of that matter:

Act 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

So all the ministers who think that physical Israel is God’s chosen people, will be misled to support something in which God “does not dwell”.
You ask about “the fullness of the Gentiles” and I am going to ask you to read these URL links for your answer to that question:

God bless you as you seek to know Christ and His Father. That is what eternal life is – it is the developing their mind within us.

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Your brother in our Lord’s service,
Mike
