Should I Stop Reading The Bible?
Sir,
I haven’t been able to find an answer to this in the faqs. My question is, I am a sinning machine, and I read the bible, but I can’t stop sinning. Should I stop reading the bible?
Thanks,
E____
Hi E____,
You ask:
I am a sinning machine, and I read the bible, but I can’t stop sinning. Should I stop reading the bible?
The answer is, no, you should not stop reading the words of your heavenly Father who has “made [you] subject to vanity” without even asking your permission.
Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
What you need to do is to continue to read God’s word and discover that He has already devised the means by which His banished sinning machines “through death” will not be expelled from Him.
2Sa 14:14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
The invisible things of God are understood by the things that are made (Rom 1:20), and this process of being saved “through death” is made clear by the life cycle of a butterfly, which must sleep in the death of the caterpillar for the purpose of being raised up as a butterfly.
Like us the caterpillar is an ugly, earth-bound worm, which lives on its belly, typifying a human sinning machine. But with absolutely no free choice in the matter, this worm is made to enter into a death sleep which will destroy that old caterpillar and give birth to a beautiful butterfly which can mount up to the heavens.
I pray you will continue to read about these things on iswasandwillbe.com and not let your sinful nature discourage you from doing so.
Here is what the apostle Paul tells us about what is happening to us all and what will happen to us all:
Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Our “old man” will be destroyed through fiery judgments. That is just a statement of fact:
1Co 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
We are all sinning machines by nature and by being made of the dust of the earth. So we will all “suffer [the] loss” of our old man (1Co 15:50). But through the fires of God’s sure judgments, we will all be saved:
1Co 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
1Pe 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
The answer to Peter’s question is that “all… shall… be made alive… in Christ” through the fire in what the scriptures call “the lake of fire”.
Read this link to understand what the lake of fire really is:

Take heart. The end is certain, and it is glorious for all in Adam:
1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
So continue reading your Bible and learning why you cannot, of yourself, quit sinning. If you are granted patience and you stay in God’s Word, you will learn that, in time, you will overcome that sinful nature.
Luk 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
In time, you will, through being crushed to powder in the fiery words of God, come to despise your own sinful ways, and through Christ in you, you will be changed into a “new man” who will say:
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me
It has already been written in your book, and it will be done:
Psa 139:16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them.
Ecc 9:2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth and to him that sacrificeth not; as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
Your brother in the same “one event”,
Mike
