Is, Was and Will Be – The Unknown Character of Christ and His Word

Spiritual Seasons

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi L____,

What a wonderful treatise on the spiritual significance of winter and its connection with the other seasons of our life!
I had never thought of that verse in Amos as you put it “God will destroy the winter house with the summer house” as using the one to destroy the other.

Amo 3:15  And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

I have always taken that to be saying, “I will smite the winter house [ along] with the summer house; and the house s [ summer and winter] of ivory shall perish, and the great house s [ summer and winter palaces] shall have an end.” Let me know what you think.
You are so very right when you say this.

God really is opening your eyes, and I am so thankful to see that taking place. As long as we are in these vessels of clay (the earth), we will experience all the seasons of the year. King David was God’s elect anointed to replace God’s rejected anointed, and yet he committed adultery and killed a man to cover it up. That was surely the spiritual winter of King David’s walk, and it brought in the flaming sword to bring back the summer.

2Sa 12:7  And Nathan said to David, Thou [ art] the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
2Sa 12:8  And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [ that had been] too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
2Sa 12:9  Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife [ to be] thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
2Sa 12:10  Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

There are those who think this could never happen to them, but they will learn that this is all in their own flesh, at their own appointed time.
Thank you for sharing your revelation with me. My prayer is that God will continue to open His word to you both. We are all very thankful for what God is doing with the two of you.
Your brother who keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book,

Mike
